The older cast lug is on the left; the newer oneon the right is wrapped and welded sheet metal.
Note the big radius on the cast lug.
In the next photo, you'll see it has no radius on the inside.
This means the metal is quite thick there = harder to heat up.
Conversely, the welded lug has a small radius on the outside,
big radius inside, meaning it's thin there = easy to heat up.
