Finished rack, without the tail light or wire (or paint), weighs a bit over 6 ounces.
(Quite a bit less than the titanium rack from Tubus.) How much weight can it
handle? I don't know but I put about 200 lb on it briefly (I sat on it). Strong enough.
You can't see it, but the fender used to have another pair of struts right where the tail
light is. I removed those struts, and put in a little sheetmetal screw through the
fender into the tail light, saving the weight of the fender struts. Big whoop, right?
The tail light is spaced back with those 1/4" Cr-Mo tubes to ensure it's (1) far enough
back to clear any pannier, and (2) low enough (due to the curve of the fender) to be
below the plane of the top deck — to allow a load on top that sticks out the back.
