Williams components are marked with a letter or two letters to indicate the
season of manufacture. Until 1923 the season ran from 1st July to
30th June; thereafter it ran from 1st August to 31st July.

There are exceptions. My AB-77 cranksets (I have two) are not marked with any such letter scheme.
